I've decided to share with you this monkey I made a long time ago. He's over on the left. Sadly when I went to buy the yarn they didn't have just plain ecru so I purchased a ecru color with little brownish flecks interspersed throughout, which worked out quite well. The monkey had a very odd construction that didn't involve any sewing which is a huge plus in my book. It was all conected as you went, which was rather hard to understand to start off with; but eventually it became much more clear to understand. I would reccomend this pattern to a very early beginner because it is worked entirely in single crochet and goes quickly enought so that you don't lose interest. The pamflet with the pattern also contained other patterns for clothing to dress your monkey in. I didn't make the clothing but I'm sure that the patterns for the clothing would be just as simple as the monkey itself.

Not Buying Enough Yarn, When You Think You Did.
I've been working on this Airy Spring Throw non stop and I'm completely loving the pattern. I 've reached the border and I have about 2 and a half rows left and I have completely run out of yarn! It's so frustrating to me because I did all of the math calculations when I started so that I would have enough in the end and now it turns out that I didn't quite make it. I wouldn't make such a big deal out of this but I was using the Caron One Pound and I don't want to have to buy a whole other pound just to finish 2 and a half rows. Ugh! On a happier note,

Blankets, Throws and Teddy Bears
One of my latest projects is the Airy Spring Throw, in the March/April issue of Crochet Today! Magazine. I decided not to make the throw with the eco-friendly yarn listed, frankly it was too expensive for my needs. instead I used Caron One Pound in Pale Green. So far I'm really enjoying the way it's turning out.

Also, I've been working on another blanket for a coworker of my mother's. It's the Speed Hook Baby Blanket from Lion Brand. I switched the Cotton-Ease yarn for Soft Baby yarn instead, because I wanted to use a softer more baby related yarn. I've got a picture of it below. I chose to use a nice pink, and a light green in addition to a basic white. I was
told to make a girly blanket without having it be too light, just
in case the baby happens to have an accident on it, it won't stain too badly. I love the Soft Baby yarn that I'm using, it's amazingly squishy. I think that this will make it a favorite with baby. In addition this I've found that the Soft Baby yarn is a bit thinner than the Cotton-Ease making the blanket much more hole-y that the original pattern called for.
The final blanket that I'll share with you today is the Tiramisu
Blanket by Alicia Paulson. To be honest I had expected the blanket to be larger than it turned out to be. Since I was making this blanket for a customer I decided to make up for the lack of blanket with a nice teddy bear that would match it. I used the Pound of Love yarn from Lion Brand to create both the blanket and the bear. And I used the same ribbon to edge the blanket and to tie around the bear's neck. The finished product is shown at the left. I am very pleased
with how the bear turned out. I had some doubt about the shaped required for the body, the decreases on the sides only was something I'd never quite seen before. But luckily it all turned out okay and the lady who ordered it really liked the bear as well. That's all for today!
